Coastal Sophistication: A Two-Tone Kitchen Revival in Christchurch

The Brief: Our client loved the layout and quality of their existing kitchen but felt the monochrome wood-grain finish was blending into the walls and floor, leaving the space feeling uninspired. The goal was to create a modern, high-contrast look that highlighted the beautiful patterned floor and timber worktops.

The Solution: We recommended a two-tone "Tuxedo" finish. We kept the upper cabinets in a crisp, light neutral to maintain an airy feel at eye level, while respraying the base units in a deep, luxurious navy.

  • Precision Preparation: The wood-grain texture was carefully cleaned and keyed to ensure the new coating would bond perfectly while retaining its natural character.

  • Dual-Phase Spraying: Using our specialist Italian furniture lacquers, we applied different tones to the upper and lower sections with zero overspray or bleeding between the two.

  • Hardware Integration: The original brushed steel handles were reinstalled, now standing out beautifully against the new navy backdrop.

The Outcome: The kitchen has been completely reimagined. The navy base units provide a stunning anchor for the room, making the patterned floor tiles a focal point rather than a distraction. It is a designer-standard finish achieved for a fraction of the cost of a full refit.
