Full restoration of a character property in Talbot Woods, Bournemouth, as part of a complete refurbishment.

The Brief
The new owners loved the home’s original features but found the extensive oak panelling dark and oppressive. The aim was to modernise and brighten the space while preserving its character.

Our Process
Following replastering to create a clean base, we carried out a meticulous preparation and finishing process:

• Total De-greasing: Removing decades of wax and polish to ensure proper paint adhesion.

• Dustless Sanding: Thoroughly "keying" the intricate oak paneling without creating a mess.

• Tannin-Blocking Primer: Essential to prevent the heavy oak tannins from bleeding through and discolouring the final finish.

• Specialist Fine-Finish Spraying: Applying industrial-grade coating for a flawless, smooth-as-silk satin finish.

The Outcome
The space has been transformed from dark and dated to light, airy, and contemporary - enhancing the original features while completely refreshing the atmosphere.
